1985 – 1999 on the faculty of engineering, Texas A&M University, Houston, Texas as a professor of civil engineering.
1995 – 1996 visiting fellow of Wolfson College, Cambridge University, and senior Fulbright fellow to the Technical University of Dresden, Republic of Germany.
